Our Environmental Activities

In addition to being in line with current environmental policies, regulations and legal regulatory standards, we have initiated the compliance process in all our ready-mixed concrete plants for the first time in 2008 within the framework of TS EN ISO 14001. We continue our efforts to reduce or eliminate risks without slowing down by conducting risk analyses. We carry out our productions in our ready-mixed concrete facilities according to the instructions and procedures established on the basis of the risk analyses. We closely follow the developing environmental processes in our country and in the world, and implement them in our own processes in our concrete production facilities as a result of our site investments.

It is our general principle “to respect the nature” and “not to pollute instead of cleaning” while fulfilling our responsibilities. Protecting and improving the environment we live in is an integral part of our business and life. Therefore, we pay utmost attention to prevent environmental pollution and protect natural resources.

Our Environmental Activities

Waste Management

Thanks to the Industrial Waste Management System we use, we manage all hazardous and non-hazardous wastes in accordance with the law and re-introduce them into the economy.

We carry out certain activities in our facilities in line with our goal of recycling 100% of the concrete sludge wastes. As a result of these activities, we ensure:

  • the prevention of environmental pollution,
  • recycling of wastes, and
  • the reduction of consumption of natural resources.

Recycling Unit and Waste Water Treatment Plant

All of our facilities are equipped with Recycling Units, which have identification documents obtained from the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization. Cleaning of pumps and transit-mixers is carried out in these units. We do not clean the vehicles outside the facility in order to keep our environmental impact at a minimum. We use the concrete sludge wastes formed as a result of washing, in cement production as an alternative raw material in order to reduce natural resource consumption and we also re-use our washing waters in concrete production. In this way, we both prevent environmental pollution and recycle the process wastes as by-products, and save water as a result.

Wastewaters of domestic nature produced at our facilities are treated in our Package Wastewater Treatment Plant and we re-use these treated waters for watering our sites. We have our wastewater analyses conducted periodically at the laboratories authorized in accordance with the legal conditions.

Environmental Drills and Trainings

We promote environmental awareness in all our facilities by providing theoretical training as well as on-site practical trainings in order to protect the natural resources, comply with all legal legislation on environment, continuously improve our environmental performance, and ensure sustainability.

We aim to reinforce the trainings we organize by performing environmental drills, and in this way, to minimize our environmental impact in an actual situation. We design how all our employees will handle their duties and responsibilities in such a situation, and we elaborate planned and unplanned drill schedules. We aim at continuous improvement by ensuring that the performances of the drills carried out periodically in accordance with the drill schedules are monitored, and that they are supported by corrective and preventive activities.

Emission Control

We predetermine the air emissions that may arise from our activities, and then, by implementing appropriate planning, engineering and emission reduction works, we ensure that the environment is protected and that the emissions meet the levels required by the legislation.

Raw materials are not stored outdoors in our facilities. Aggregate bunkers, belt converyors carrying raw materials and twin-shaft available in the production area are completely enclosed. We have pulverized water systems in our enclosed aggregate bunkers, and in this way we prevent uncontrolled dust emissions. There are jet filters in our cement silos, and the emissions formed at these points is sucked through jet filters and the filtered material is re-used. The roads and sites of our facilities are made of concrete and we water them at regular intervals.
