Considerations About Ground Concrete

Ground concrete is the type of concrete that is used in case of industrial buildings, prefabricated buildings, concrete roads, warehouses, parking lots, etc., that require large surface areas. Due to certain surface finishing processes required to be implemented in this type of concrete casting, but which are not regularly implemented in other types of concretes, the use of chemical additives should be limited and it should also be ensured that the concrete surface reaches the level of hardness in the desired time, rendering finishing of the surface possible.

One of the following measures should be preferred for the area where such type of casting will be made;

  • The ground should be saturated with water,
  • Ground must be coated with a material having water impermeability, or
  • Blinding concrete should be casted on the ground in order to render the ground ready for concrete casting.

Coding should be carried out during the concrete casting and the pouring of the concrete should be completed without allowing the formation of cold joint.
