Formwork Striking Process

Formwork Striking Times

  • TS 500 stipulates with respect to the formwork striking process that none of the formwork are to be moved without the approval of the relevant control engineer.
  • The time between the end of concrete casting and formwork striking depends on the type of cement to be used, the speed which the concrete will gain its strength, the water/cement ratio, the type of building load, the magnitude of the effects, the weather conditions, and the method implemented to cure the concrete.
  • Formwork striking times at temperatures below +5° C, which are considered as cold weather conditions, must be validated in terms of concrete compressive strengths and frost conditions until a minimum compressive strength of 5 MPa is obtained and the formwork should not be removed for at least 3 days.
